Mardi Gras isn’t until March and a flight to New Orleans is a little costly; however, you can get a taste of Bourbon Street at the Bourbon Street Ball on October 27.
I recently learned about this fundraiser for the LGBT Community Center of Greater Cleveland and I’m really excited to help spread the word by giving away two tickets.
With the Gay Games coming to Cleveland in 2014, the LGBT Community Center has been working with the City of Cleveland, businesses and other groups to nurture a strong and supportive community for LGBT Clevelanders and visitors. Programs like Project 180 provide educational and training presentations to increase awareness of issues affecting the LGBT community and create safe work and school environments.
This is in addition to the counseling, special programming for LGBT youth and seniors, free and anonymous HIV testing, and discussion groups they have provided for decades.
To continue providing these services, the LGBT Community Center is throwing the Bourbon Street Ball from 6 to 10 pm on October 27.
When the red carpet is rolled out at the Cleveland House of Blues, attendees will enjoy cajun food, drinks from Southern Comfort, and entertainment that will have you laughing and dancing throughout the night.
Your hosts for the evening will be Kory of Cleveland’s New 102 Radio and Veranda L’Ni, the tallest drag queen in Cleveland and hostess of Drag Bingo at TWIST Social Club.
They’ll be joined by comedian Suzanne Westenhoefer and percussionist/dancer Elec Simon, a former cast member and still occasional tour member of the Broadway production of STOMP.
General admission to the Bourbon Street Ball costs $95, which includes drink coupons, cajun bites, the live performances, photo ops and an auction. VIP tickets and discounts for low income seniors and students are available at bourbonstreetball.com.
You can also enter my giveaway for a pair of general admission tickets. How to enter: Do one, some, or all five of the entries. A separate comment is needed for each.
