Last November I had the chance to spend the morning at MedWish for a Blogger Volunteer Day. Although it meant waking up before 6am on a Saturday, getting to see the effects of MedWish’s unique mission was more than worth it.
In Northeast Ohio, we are very lucky that our hospitals are filled with an abundance of medical supplies. Unfortunately, there are many areas of the world where this is not the case and doctors have to make do with things like fishing line instead of sutures.
MedWish strives to match these healthcare professionals with the 500,000+ pounds of usable surplus that come through their door each year. However, to keep these supplies out of landfills and get them to the doctors, nurses and humanitarians that need them, MedWish needs both our time and financial support.
Which is where you and MedWish’s BAND AID BASH come in.
On April 27, MedWish is celebrating their 20th anniversary with an evening of celebrity chef magic, crafty cocktails and rocking out at MedWish’s warehouse on Cleveland’s eastside.
And I’m giving away 2 tickets to it!
Starting at 7pm that night, Hodge’s owner and Cleveland food truck master Chris Hodgson will be putting together a delicious menu, while Best of Cleveland mixologist Joseph DeLuca shakes things up behind the bar. Once you’ve had your fill of food, Party Crashers crashes the Bash with a raucous dance party.
Of course, the biggest reason to attend are the recipients, patients and lives who will benefit from this fundraiser:
Tickets are $150 and can be purchased at medwish.org/bab2013. You can also enter to win 2 tickets in my Band Aid Bash Giveaway!
There are 5 Easy Ways to Enter the Giveaway

I follow you both via twitter—sounds like an awesome benefit for an awesome cause!
I did the volunteer night there the other week…what I found interesting is just how MUCH is thrown away in surgery that can be donated to MedWish. A whole warehouse full! It was astounding.

I actually first heard about MedWish when I volunteered with them through Alpha Phi Omega (a co-ed service fraternity that I was a member of). I really really love the work they do – and the people are so genuine. I think it’s an amazing operation that helps so many people. Especially with so many great hospitals in Cleveland, it’s so nice to be able to do something good with the excess supplies that someone else needs! I found on the website the 5 steps to save lives, which I found interesting to see just how they make it happen!
I learned that MedWish has shipped supplies and equipment to 90 foreign countries in the last 20 years.
I am fans of MedWish and your blog on Facebook.
I follow you and now @Medwish on Twitter!
I found it interesting that U.S. hospitals generate more than 5.9 million tons of medical waste each year. Much of that waste is unused medical supplies and equipment.

I loved looking at the people behind the MedWish mission – they are making a real difference in the lives of those in need – and keeping our landfills free of useful medical supplies – kudos to this passionate crew – and their volunteers – https://www.medwish.org/who-we-are/staff/
