When it comes to Cleveland success stories, the tale behind Jakprints is one of my favorites (here’s an article I love from last year’s Cleveland Scene).
From seeing the need fellow musicians had for printed materials to developing a company that Harvard called one of “the top 100 U.S. companies doing business in the urban core,” there’s a lot to be inspired by at the full color printing, custom apparel printing and sticker production company.
Founders Jacob Edwards and Dameon Guess also have a huge passion for the city – demonstrated by their commitment to building and keeping their business in the city’s MidTown district.
On Saturday, Sept. 3, they’ll be melding this love for the city with their nontraditional, artistic approach to things at the Jak of All Trades Fest.
Hosted at JakPrints’ MidTown headquarters (3134 Perkins Ave.), the Jak of All Trades Fest is a free event from 12 to 7pm that will feature:
- Live bands & DJs
- A street-course style skate park
- Bike Polo, Bicycle events & games
- A live mural installation, art exhibits and hands-on activities
- Pop-up stores and a fashion show
Additionally, 3 of my favorites food trucks – Dim and Dem Sum, Umami Moto and StrEAT – will be there cooking up food, and free beer will be available in the Event Sponsor Beer Garden.
While not all of the events I blog about are the most kid-friendly, the Jak of All Trades Fest is also going to have activities for children under 14, including games, crafts, a kids’ chalk area, the Big Fun squirt gun zone and special skateboarding hours. And for those of you like me who want to see how Jakprints does all of their printing, they’ll be providing tours of the eco-friendly facilities (I nerd out at things like this so count me in for a tour!).
Committed to making a better Cleveland, the festival will feature a charity raffle to benefit MidTown Cleveland Incorporated and Community Greenhouse Partners, where participants can win an HP TouchPad, tickets to concerts and professional sporting events, and gift baskets from local businesses.
Although the Jak of All Trades Fest is completely free and open to the public, attendees must RSVP by Sunday, August 28th. My Labor Day weekend just got a little busier and a lot more exciting with the Jak of All Trades Fest. I’m definitely looking forward to seeing Jakprints bring the same creative, alternative style found in their products to their new local festival.

I’m glad you’re going! Scott and I rsvped and registered for the 1pm building tour. As a heads up, you have to register each person separately (I think that applies to only adults but there’s probably a phone number or facebook comment section for questions about how to rsvp for children).
Children under 18 are covered by their adults registration. Anyone over 18 will need to RSVP, though.
