Going for a run/walk in Lakewood Park: Being right on the lake this park has breathtaking views. My favorite time to go is at sunset. It just feels worlds safer than Edgewater. They have outdoor concerts in the summertime and it’s nice to hear the background noise of children’s laughter from the pool there.

Ox Roast/Tractor Pull in Mantua: This was a family tradition growing up and I re-discovered it this year when I took three first-timers. The ox roast sandwich (with horseradish) alone is worth the trip, but if you’ve never seen a truck/tractor pull you’re in for a pleasant surprise there too. This year it is 7/19-7/21.

Summer afternoons at Shooters: Located right on the lake it’s a perfect Saturday afternoon spot. Boats can pull directly up and dock. It’s particularly fun to visit during the airshow!

Summer Sunday volleyball at Battery Park: Truly an all levels of volleyball get together. When I first started going I had never played a game of volleyball in my life. Everyone sections off according to skill level, beers are had, music is played, and drinks/food at Redstone or YOLO are followed after.

Wednesday Oysters at Nauti Mermaid: If you like oysters, or know someone that does, this is a must. If you don’t like oysters, this is still a really fun place. Modeled after key west crab shacks, the food really delivers. Wednesdays are also $10 surf and turf burgers, a burger with a crab cake on top, so, so good.
