Well my aunt used to own some on Spencer Drive, they were nice. But know that she has sold them I am not sure how well they have been kept up. They are definitely one of those things you have to plan ahead for. That is the nice thing about the addition of the Lodge, last minute venturers are sure to find a place to stay that way. I would also suggest to those who plan on spending a few days in the area to check out some or all of our great covered bridges! There is a festival the second week in October that encompasses all 17 of them, but they are great to check out any time of the year.

I did! We loved walking along the shore and marina and took a short walk down the trail. It’s really beautiful. I enjoy how much diversity the area offered when it comes to things to do.

I went out to GOTL last fall (invited to the same weekend as you, but ended up going on our own as well). We’d driven through GOTL during the summer, but I especially enjoyed staying there at a quieter time of year. Did you get a chance to visit the State Park itself? Great marina, beach and walking trail!

Thanks for the recommendation! Although we didn’t have time to check out the cabins on our last trip there, Scott and I had so much fun we plan to return to Geneva-on-the-Lake many more times. If you have any suggestions for the best cottages to try out, let me know. Thanks again!

Too bad you didn’t get a chance to stay at one of the many family owned cabins along “The Strip.” These cottages are plentiful and family owned. They are great for a weekend trip or a week long stay and a nice break from typical hotel stay.

I love Geneva on the lake!!! I use to go there every summer (and many times over the summer). Firehouse winery is by far my favorite thing as an adult but as a kid it was drinking real birch beer while playing keno. Thanks for the memories!

I think I’m more relaxed just having read this! I’ve enjoyed the setting of the wineries for many years, but wasn’t aware of some of the other things you mentioned. Thanks for giving me an idea for a quick weekend trip, close to home!
