Nice article! I was at the other DVD recording session (the night before), and saw no mishaps, but I vividly recall a concert 30 years ago or so where principal cello Stephen Geber had virtually all the strings on his bow break during Kodaly’s “Dances from Galanta.” He passed the bow back through the section, a new bow was passed forward, and he was back playing in about a minute.

Lovely to read how you fell in love with Cleveland. I was born there back in the late 1950s, but haven’t lived there since the late 1970s. Until last year, my mother lived there, and I still have friends in the area, so I visited every year, and time has only deepened my fondness for that embattled but wonderful city. I’m so glad you’ve found it wonderful too!

Actually, it was Concertmaster Bill’s string that snapped. Yoko and Bill switched instruments so Bill could continue playing, and then once Yoko restrung the instrument, they switched back! Either way though, Yoko is a pro!
